It’s Memorial Day Weekend and you know what that means? Yup, The beginning of the Hampton’s Summer Weekend getaway’s!!! This weekend there’s a HUGE Opening in South Hampton. Unik Ernest (PM, NYC) is teaming up with Michael Satsky (Stereo, NYC) seem to have a lock on the nightlife landscape with a unique feature at their new East Hampton nightclub "Lily Pond " – a solution for summer traffic jams in the Hamptons. The Lily Pond nightclub, formally known as "Flirt Nightclub" will feature a helicopter landing pad a mile away. The word is the club mavens spent over $500,000 on renovations on both indoors and out: a rolling landscaped lawn dotted with tropical themed, temperature and volume-controlled cabanas, plus an interior w/ gold foil walls, French crystal chandeliers, and antique over-sized banquettes.

Another great collection to have in your closet.  Nicholas K is a New York based company founded in 2003 by brother and sister team Nicholas and Christopher Kunz. Nicholas attended FIT in New York and had previously worked at Calvin Klein and a few other high end labels before founding Nicholas K. The Ferrari F430 GT California is intended to follow the demanding visual message the Prancing Horse emits, a sporty designed powerful but versatile vehicle for a spectrum of occasions. A 4.3-liter V8 produces 460 horsepowers and will ensure its roots racing tradition while accelerating from zero to 60 in under 4 seconds. To expand the driving excitement the California will be shifted by a ultra smooth shifting 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and the driving will be additionally secured by the F1-Trac traction control system. The car’s design roots obviously lay in the original 60’s 250 GT California smoothly blended with modern accents.

The California is Ferrari’s first retractable hardtop convertible. The hardtop convertible is powered by Ferrari’s 4.3-liter V8, producing 460 horsepower. It is not known for sure if Ferrari will market the car as the Ferrari California or the Ferrari F430 GT as recent trademark filing suggested. Only time will tell when the car goes on display at the Paris International Car Show in October.

This is a little off topic, but some of you may find it interesting that MTV’s The Real World returns to New York for a third time…but for the first time it’s headed to an outer-borough. That’s right, the seven generic, good-looking roommates will be heading to Brooklyn.   Just when you thought Brooklyn wasn’t enough attention, right?  Pardon my territorial comment, Brooklyn is where I was Born, Raised and Reside.  (You have to be here to understand) Besides that I’m pretty excited.

Shooting begins this summer, and will result in 12 hour-long episodes. In the press release we received, Jon Murray, co-creator of the show, says “The Brooklyn season, like the Hollywood season, will focus on what people loved about ‘The Real World’ when it launched in 1992 – genuine people, meaningful conflict and powerful stories.” Really Jon? We’re sort of betting it’ll be more about the cast taking over bars, fighting with locals, getting drunk and sleeping with roommates — all as they take their amazingly overpriced living quarters for granted.

The big question now is: Which part of Brooklyn will have the distinct pleasure of welcoming the new residents? Our guess is they’ll be taking over a few luxury condo units in Williamsburg. Perhaps this will unite the hipsters and anti-hipsters of the ‘nabe? Either way, get ready to see the production taking over McCarren Pool Parties this summer.

Shades are the this weeks Summer Essential. Sunglasses are used for more than just protecting your eyes from the sun. They’re used to complete “the look” and also used to hide behind for a boost of confidence. Remember these 3 things no matter what your use for them are:

- Carry them in a case with the proper cloth when your not “using them”.
- Unless you want people to have the impression that you’re an insecure jerk Take them off indoors.
- Take them off when your speaking to someone in doors or out. (especially a woman).

The Air Force needed sunglasses, and Ray-Ban obliged. In a happy coincidence, the results—in addition to providing some pretty solid glare protection for fighter pilots—were an instant design classic. The aviator that invented the genre hasn’t changed in 70 years, and it’s not likely to do so in the next 70, either.

For a narrow shaped face I suggest asking for a pair of the extra large size in these.

DNR has reported that “Dolce & Gabbana will open its first men’s wear boutique on Sloane Street in London this August. The 2,238-square-foot store will occupy the former Tommy Hilfiger flagship space and neighbor Bottega Veneta and Shanghai Tang boutiques…Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana teamed with Ferruccio Laviani and Studio Piuarch to create a slick design for the store, which will feature glass, varnished walls, chandeliers – all in black – as well as canaletto walnut shelving and display cabinets. The boutique will be set over two floors – sportswear, denim and accessories will be on ground level, while suits, knitwear, underwear, beachwear and gym wear will be located in the basement.”

Just thought I would Kibitz with you for a minute. I’ve been passing the fendi store everyday for about 3 1/2 months now and there has not been one Men’s display in that window. The last time I remembered seeing anything for the men was back in February.  What’s up with that?

The new limited edition Mercedes-Benz SL 63 that’s being produced in conjunction with Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen. Only 200 will be made, and each features the first application of a new white paint finish dubbed designo magno Kashmir.  All 200 owners of the SL 63 AMG Edition IWC will also get a limited edition example of IWC’s “Grosser Ingenieur” watch. Though my desensitized retinas see plain old white where others see shades of Pearl and Egg Shell, there’s no denying this brilliant veneer looks like a million bucks on the SL 63 AMG. Contrast that with the matte black finish of other components on the car’s exterior, and you’ve got the world’s most expensive Storm Trooper. Tobago Brown nappa leather will cradle your bum in the AMG sport seats while your feet fall on special black floormats that are one of about a dozen interior surfaces emblazoned with the AMG logo. The rest is pretty much standard SL 63 AMG fare, if you can call anything about this 525-hp convertible standard with a straight face.

Straight out of London; The Worlds Most Expensive Shirt’ The Eaton Diamond was displayed instore at Eton shirts on May 8, 2008 in London, England. To celebrate the 80th birthday of Eton Shirts they have launched ‘The Worlds Most Expensive Shirt’, The Eaton diamond valued at £23,000 ($46,000 USD).  Apart from the extra ordinary price, it’s also ultra special by Eton standards. It’s said to be made of the finest Egyptian cotton yarn. The studs and cufflinks are diamond encrusted, the studs have coloured diamonds and the cufflinks have the plain old normal diamonds. The fancy shirt is touring the world passing through some of Eton’s stores including Milan, LA and Stockholm and will be auctioned off for charity next year.  The shirt has seven coloured diamonds that adorn the shirt studs and cufflinks.

If you’re in the Soho or Nolita area this weekend check out lovely Day. This tiny Nolita joint is a favorite neighborhood hangout with its vintage decor of dainty flowered wallpaper and cozy red booths. The menu ranges from Thai-influenced noodles and spicy long beans to Souther-flavored salmon and mash sweet potatoes to fried egg sandwiches and bloody marys for brunch. This is a very cozy relaxed place to be.
