How to: Tie a Bow Tie

November 18th, 2008

Tying a Bow Tie…

I’ve been struggling with this for some time now. The constant tying and untying, sweating, arms getting tired and the unnecessary frustration. Whether we like it or not, its something we should all learn how to do at some point in our lives. Thanks to You Tube I finally figured it out. I found some really simple and detailed videos that made it quick and sweat less for me. Hope this helps…

Essential of the Week – The Loafer

September 25th, 2008

It is that time again… Yes Loafer time.  Loafers aka “The Penny Loafers” are a must have during every Fall/Winter season.  They’re made of leather and are often worn in formal situations. They’re low, leather step-in shoes usually with moccasin construction and broad flat heels. They first appeared in the mid 1930s and have no shoelaces or buckles.  Penny Loafers, Tassel Loafers and the “Kiltie” variation, and even the double combination the “Kiltie Tassel Loafers” are all becoming accepted as semi-formal, but lace up shoes (wingtips, cap toe, or solid piece leathers) are still required for formal occasions.

I’ve been on the prowl for the perfect pair since mid summer and finally found the right pair for me, but throughout my search I found a few pairs that almost put my venture to a holt.  Look below, but look with caution.  You may want to replace the ole faithfuls with a pair of these after reading this.

Get Your Wings

Red Wing Boots caught my eye this week while out and about during Fashion Week in NYC. Hey, I know a lot of you might say “this ain’t nothin’ new”, well “it ain’t”. The 100 Year old Shoe Company has stayed true to its roots since men were still riding horses, but I am very sorry to say that in the past Red Wing Boots have been on the bottom of my shopping list. Especially when your walking around with these size 14’s (as I stated so many times before) you need to wear a shoe that is very detailed, neat and specific for the man with gift of “size”. Man o’ man, I tried on a pair with my G-Star Classic 3301’s (that’s a plug, you’re welcome) and said “Damn, these look dope!”. Not my everyday boot, but definitely something I need on standby, but to eaches on though.

Until the next post, ciao!!!

Tretorn SoHo Shop

As I was purusing through SoHo yesterday, somehow I ended up in the Tretorn Shop on Spring Street. So I decided to have a look around the Ole’ Swedish Shop and found this beauty (see Below). Looks comfortable, feels soft, but I didn’t get them because apparently there isn’t anyone in Sweden that wears a size 14. So I thought I’d live vicariously through my fellas, enjoy! For more information check out the Tretorn website.

June 21st, 2008

Its been 2 weeks since my last post but, I’m back an I’m offering a special service to you that has been asked of me by a few of my subscribed readers in the past of whom I’ve successfully helped. I’m offering Image Help/Consulting for anyone who feels is ready to recreate or upgrade their image/lifestyle. It just doesn’t have to be the way you look. May your first impression always be your best.
