This post is straight from the Blackberry. I just received news about Hermes opening a Men’s-Only store on Madison Avenue directly across the street from the company’s existing New York City flagship at 691 Madison. The 6,000-square-foot boutique will carry the company’s entire assortment of Men’s merchandise ranging from ready-to-wear and accessories to lifestyle products. 45 percent of Hermes’ sales come from the men’s wear department, that goes to show you that we men are playing a big part in keeping the market up.

Follow the Rules: Varonique Nichanian of Hermès

May 1st, 2008

Emerging from mega fashion house Hermès, menswear designer Varonique Nichanian is the latest to participate in Details’ Follow the Rules. Her fashion tips are mostly male relevant with some highlights including the following:

1. The right proportion and fit are a matter of centimeters—millimeters, really. When you choose clothes that are perfect for you, you feel strong, comfortable, and more self-confident.

2. Style is a question of charm, not nationality. It’s not true that French men have more allure or style than American men. It’s just that they dress with more personality. They don’t follow dress codes, and sometimes they mix things in a way they shouldn’t. Like how Serge Gainsbourg dressed, with his reptile shoes with jeans and blazer and white shirt—that’s charm.

6. You should have one watch for the weekend, one for the week, one for suits, one for sport. I love watches. Watches are for men what perfume is for women. They are very personal, and you can wear them according to your mood.
