John Varvatos Timepiece by Ernst Benz

The Ernst Benz by John Varvatos timepieces have officially been released.  The Limited-Edition ChronoScope will be numbered and limited to 250 watches per variation. The watch will retail for $6,800 on exotic straps and available exclusively at John Varvatos boutiques nationwide.available exclusively at John Varvatos boutiques nationwide.  A must have if your as much of a JV fan as I am.

The focus of the “Ernst Benz by John Varvatos Limited-Edition ChronoScope” is on vintage-inspired design, and the timepiece will be initially released in two dial design variations—vintage black and vintage anthracite.

“I have collected vintage watches for years because of their intricate design and architecture,” Varvatos said in a media release. “It was a natural next step to create my own special timepiece with Leonid Khankin translating my design philosophy and blending my aesthetics intricately into the watch components.”

The ChronoScope also features “contrast finishing,” as the case is crafted in brushed stainless steel and the bezel, pushers and crown are finished in polished stainless steel. Exotic skin straps, including alligator, crocodile, bison and calf in Ernst Benz’s aviator design, will be custom-made with special colors and finishes exclusive to the collection. In addition, Varvatos has designed a custom leather watchcase to house the timepiece.

Essential of the Week – Corduroy Pants

August 26th, 2008

It’s time to give your denim time to breathe and get some Cords. Corduroy is a comfortable and durable cloth. The material is also used in the construction of (sport) jackets and shirts. The width of the cord is commonly referred to as the size of the wale. The lower the “wale” number, the thicker the width of the wale (i.e., 4-wale is much thicker than 11-wale). Wide wale is more commonly found on trousers; medium, narrow, and fine wale fabrics are usually found in garments used above the waist. In the past, clothes made from corduroy are considered casual and are usually favored in colder climates, but you know fashion; its all about the personality. Below is a list of some great fitting trousers.

Varvatos’ new store inside of CBGB

April 7th, 2008

John Varvatos opens his store this weekend at 315 Bowery, the address you may formally know as CBGB’s. The shop will not only have the designer’s lines but, will also have vinyl records, along with vintage-seventies hi-fi equipment (for said records) for sale, and it even has the retains of many of the space’s iconic features. Toward that end, CBGB’s walls remain as they were, cram full with stickers and graffiti. “We’re not reopening CBGB, and we’re not trading off the name,” John Varvatos says. “When the club closed, the choices were it was either going to become a deli or a Bank of America. This way, it’s like keeping a piece of history.” There’s a new, smaller stage for monthly performances from up-and-coming musicians, too. Varvatos is also launching a limited-edition specialty line, 315 Bowery, to be carried at the store in the fall. “It’s intact,” he says. “When you’re in there, you feel like you’re in a club.”
